Thanksgiving in Utah

For Thanksgiving we went to Utah to visit Matt's side of the family. Other Members of the family joined us including Grandpa Dave's cousin Nina and his sister and brother in law Diane and Brian Curd and their daughter, Kacie. It was a great trip and there was a lot of food and football to make everyone happy.

Seeing Hayden and Ellie play and run around with their cousins Zoe and Zachy was super cute.

We also celebrated Grandpa's birthday and we went to the Colorado/Utah football game. It was very cold and windy and the Utes did just enough to lose, while the Buffs did just enough to win.

All in all it was a great time.

F is for Football

The day after Thanksgiving we ventured out into the cold and wind to watch the Utes play the Buffs. Matt was torn over who to cheer for since he regularly cheers for both teams. When the Buffs went on to embarrass the Utes he couldn't decide whether to be happy or mad.

Overall we had a great day though. We got out of the house without the kids, we ate kettle corn, sipped hot chocolate, and cheered for the band!

These Boots

These boots were made for walking AND looking stylish at the grocery store. Ellie and I sure know how to rock the leopard print and faux fur!

Fresh Air

We spent Thanksgiving in Utah and the weather there was beautiful on Thanksgiving day. In between food and football we hung outside with the kids while they played and did the hula hoop.

Peek-a-Boo Grandpa!

Who is that hiding begin the apron?! Chef Grandpa on Thanksgiving, but of course!

Nakey Thanksgiving

Nothing says Thanksgiving quite like getting nakey and running around the living room with your cousins. Luckily, it was only their tops they removed...this time.

Cousins

I love this picture of Hayden and Zoe in the bathroom. Their bag of hair stuff on the floor, Zoe demonstrating how to put on the headband and Hayden watching Zoe's every move. I had such a special relationship with my cousin Britta and I hope that Zoe and Hayden have one similar.

Bartop

Pop built us a bartop and installed it with Ash's help. It looks SO good. The color matches our cabinets perfectly and it really ties our kitchen and living room together.

AZ Airtime

On Sunday Hayden was invited to a birthday party for a little girlfriend at AZ Airtime, an indoor trampoline park.

I convinced Ash and Pop to join us and we had a ball! Ash and Pop chased Hayden around, Ash did a front flip, I did the perfect demonstration of how NOT to do a backflip (complete with trampoline burn to my face), and Ash and I had a LONG sitting war (also referred to as a 'butt war').

Thanks for coming with us!! We had such a blast!

Quality Time with Family

Pop and Ash came in for a long weekend visit and we had so much fun with them. Pop and Hayden read books, Ellie and Ash wrestled, and Hayden and Ash snuggled on the kitchen floor.

It was such a great weekend!!

Magg-i-ano's!!!

Dave and Sarah met us at Maggiano's for dinner. I think some little girl likes almost as much as her Daddy!

Uh-oh. We have another monkey on our hands!

Aces Bowl XV

Another successful Aces Bowl is in the books as the 15th version was at a college game for the first time in history and Austin, Texas was the site. Good times included golf (albeit very windy), good eating (including some great Texas barbecue), and the Texas vs Kansas State football game itself.

See the pictures below. But first, see the video of the Blue Wave. The story goes like this: we were all in the hotel club lounge and the concierge was telling us some places to go out. She mentioned one called the Cheers shot bar and that the bar features a special shot called the Blue Wave. There are 2 parts to the shot: a blue shot and a chaser clear shot. So the patrons say, "Gimme the Blue, gimme the blue, gimme the blue!" And the bartenders give them the blue shot. Then they say, "Gimme the wave, gimme the wave, gimme the wave!" At which point the bartenders throw the "wave" shot (being water) in the patron's face.

So the concierge told us all of this. Then later, Cyrus said that he could get Scooter on this practical joke. Many of us said no way since he was there to hear how it works. Nonetheless, Cy tried and here is the result:

Doctor's Office

Hayden got sick in early November so we took her to her pediatrician. Every time we go there it makes me think back to right after she was born and taking her in for her first appointment. I can't believe that this big girl in the picture is the same little baby I took in three and a half years ago.

Working Girl

Ellie is finally starting to pull her own weight around here!

Runner's High

In early November I joined Jennifer and her sister-in-law Erin for a 5k run in Tempe. At check-in I got us matching headbands with 'one hot mess' on them and we all wore matching crazy socks.

The night before the race I got that excited and nervous feelings and remembered again how much I love running. The 5k was really fun and the scenery was pretty around the lake. We even got to watch the sun come up.

After the new year I definitely want to get back into running. It's been too long and I really do enjoy it.

Lunching

In early November we were out running errands with the girls and decided to stop at Sauce for lunch with the girls. Hayden was a complete Sassafras while were there but otherwise it was a lovely lunch. HA!

But while we were there we saw a bunch of planes and helicopters (there was an air show at Scottsdale Airpark) an the weather was beautiful.

Go Cardinals!!

Matt and I have been able to go to a few games together this season and we always have so much fun.

In early November we saw the Cardinals play against the Rams with Dave and Sarah. We tailgated beforehand and the food was so good. Matt does such a great job with the food and prep-work.

The roof was open that day and we had sun on us for about half an hour. It was a beautiful day and we love being able to watch the games in the sun (instead of in the snow like most of the rest of the county).

And, The Cardinals won!!
