Scooter and Tracy's Wedding Weekend

Scooter and Tracy were going to get married just an hour from Boston, and since Savannah had never been to Boston, we decided we needed go a couple of days early to see the town.

On our first day we hit the Freedom Trail, the 2.5 mile walk through the city that hits the historic sites. It was
a lot of fun to see some amazing stuff that helped kick start our country.

The walk was a long one and it gave us a great work out. That night, we needed to refuel which was perfect since we had dinner scheduled with the Carmodys and Cyrus in Little Italy (The North End). Dinner was wonderful, and after dinner we went to Mike's Pastry, which is legendary. They feature a huge selection of desserts, sweets, and treats. We got 4 for the table and dug in. Not surprisingly, the Boston Cream Pie won our votes as the best.

The next day we walked some more, including to Fenway Pahhk, the beautiful Newbury Street which has some great shopping and strolling, and down to the Charles River.



Then it was time to pick up our friends, Abby and Greg Pronti, at the airport. From there, we headed out to the wedding location, which was in Thompson, CT. It should have only been an hour drive, but of course we were leaving Boston at 4:30pm on a Friday. So the traffic was absurd.

It took over 3 hours but we made it and met the Lecce, EZ, and Alethea for dinner. After dinner we headed to the wedding location to meet the wedding party and their families for some drinks following the rehearsal dinner. That was when we first saw Scooter and Tracy and it was great to see them and congratulate them in anticipation of their special day.

After drinks, we went back towards the hotel but not before stopping at the infamous Gold Eagle, the bar in the parking lot of our hotel. And as soon as we walked in, Jamie was the first to notice what was going on exclaiming, "Yes! It's karaoke night!"

So of course we had to. The guys sang Garth's Low Places while the ladies sand Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive. Both were epic...ly bad.

But we had fun.



The following morning the ladies had a scheduled girl day as they got
lunch and got mani's and pedi's. So that was a perfect excuse for the guys to make a beeline to the casino. 30 minutes later we were at Mohegan Sun, one of Connecticut's finest.

Then it was time for the wedding so after we all regrouped and got ready, we went to the Lord Thompson Manor. The grounds and building are beautiful and an immaculate setting for a wedding.

Before the day would be out, this would prove to be one of the most lavish weddings we have been to. First, there was food and cider available when we arrived, prior to the ceremony. Then after the ceremony (beautiful by the way, but we're focusing on food here, c'mon) the appetizers were out. Along one wall was a 20 foot display of apps including sliders, cheese, fruit, and more. It took us a few minutes to notice the opposite wall of the room, which featured an identical set of tables, but these were loaded with seafood. While the Mrs. and I are not seafood people, those that were said they were in heaven. Crab legs, sushi, crab cakes, scallops, salmon, etc. It was amazing. And that wasn't all, there were servers walking around with more apps, good ones too. Like mini beef wellingtons or chicken teriyaki. Glorious.

The sad part for me personally: I was not 100%. I had been slightly under the weather all week and couldn't eat as much as I wanted to. Much sadness. But at least I wasn't knocked out and could still eat a little bit.

Then the dinner was great. A crisp salad was followed by the highlight for many. The intermezzo was a grapefruit ice scoop, placed into a real rose. The presentation was stunning and a real crowd pleaser as everyone was taking pictures.

Then the main entree was a huge filet with a giant shrimp on top. Then came the dessert. And man did it come.

First there was a candy bar, which is to say there was a table filled with bowls of all kinds of different candy. I love this trend at weddings and we took advantage sampling all of them. Then they had the dessert bar, which was a bunch of mini desserts: mini cheesecakes, key lime pies, chocolate cakes, profiteroles, and more. Yum!

And lastly, the wedding cake itself, which had like 32 different flavor choices. Yes, more than Baskin Robbins.

Boom. A three course dessert. Win.

Then after all the dancing and chaos of the party, they brought out more food as it was time to leave. The last
course was some snacks for the road home, warm ballpark pretzels and mustard, chips, and cookies. Sweet.

All in all there were like 23 courses of food. Lovely.

Plus all the females were given shawls. So that seals the amazingness of the wedding. Kudos, Scacy (Scooter and Tracy - saves keystrokes at this hour of writing, except for this explanation burns them and then some).

It was a terrific trip and we were so happy to see Scooter and Tracy tie the knot.
